Starting New

DailyOM - Blue Pond LagoonA Moment of Choice DailyOM

Timely: Definitely as this new year arrives I feel (and observe around me) the need for truth. Personal truth, Global truths…any and all. I feel the need to shed more of the facades that I have comfortably lived behind for such a long time. I also recognize in others that they are doing the same. Others are reacting to those around them doing this “Why are all these people acting like this towards me?”. Things like that.  There is a new energy in 2008 (1/1/1) without a doubt and I think many are feeling it and processing it whether they consciously realize it or not.  Peace.

There are times in our lives that lend themselves to starting something new. The beginning of a new year, finishing school, leaving a job, or changing homes—these all are times that turn our minds to fresh starts. Their advantage is that they bring with them the energy of that event, creating a tide of change around them that we can ride to our next shoreline. But we can choose to start anew anytime. In any moment we can decide that a bad day or a relationship that’s gotten off on the wrong foot can be started again. It is a mental shift that allows us to clean the slate and approach anything with fresh eyes, and we can make that choice at any time.

Starting new is most powerful when we focus our attention to what we are choosing to create. Giving all of our attention to the unwanted aspects of our lives allows what we resist to persist. We need to remember to leave enough room in the process of new beginnings to be kind to ourselves, because it takes time to become accustomed to anything new, no matter how much we like it. There is no need to get down on ourselves if we don’t reach our new goals instantly. Instead, we acknowledge the forward motion and choose to reset and start again, knowing that with each choice we learn, grow, and move forward.

Making the choice to start anew has its own energy—it’s a promise made to you. The forward momentum creates a sort of vacuum behind it, pulling toward you all you need to help you continue moving in your chosen direction. Once the journey has begun, it may take unexpected turns, but it never really ends. Like cycles in nature, there are periods of obvious growth and periods of dormancy that signal a time of waiting for the right moment to burst forth. Each time we choose to start anew we dedicate ourselves to becoming the best we are able to be.

Power of the HeartTimely: Some timely quotes reminding me of who we are and what helps to define our beliefs (and therefor our reality).

It’s surprising how many persons go through life without ever recognizing that their feelings toward other people are largely determined by their feelings toward themselves, and if you’re not comfortable within yourself, you can’t be comfortable with others.” - Sydney J. Harris

We have the need to be accepted and to be loved by others, but we cannot accept and love ourselves. The more self-love we have, the less we will experience self-abuse. Self-abuse comes from self-rejection, and self-rejection comes from having an image of what it means to be perfect and never measuring up to that ideal. Our image of perfection is the reason we reject ourselves the way we are, and why we don’t accept others the way they are.” - Don Miguel Ruiz

There is no freedom like seeing myself as I am and not losing heart.” - Elizabeth J. Canham

If we could learn to like ourselves, even a little, maybe our cruelties and angers might melt away.” - John Steinbeck

Channel Unlimited Love

Virgo CollageDailyOM Horoscope

Timely: Wow. All the messages today say the same thing.

You may feel like supporting those around you today. This may be due to your desire to give assistance to people who look up to you. If during the day you find that others may want more support than you can give at that time, you can work on becoming centered and opening up your heart. This allows you to become fully attuned to their needs and to keep your energy flowing. You can take a few moments to ground yourself. Plant your feet onto the floor, and keep in touch with the earth. Then you might imagine that the rest of your body is a channel of energy opening up to the sky. You can picture a bright light entering your body through the top of your head, filling you with unlimited energy and love as you breathe. You could notice that your heart becomes more receptive as a result.

Learning to ground ourselves and open our heart center allows us to more fully encourage other people. There are times when we may want to be helpful and giving, but if we are not tapping into the unlimited energy of the universe, we can drain ourselves in the process. It is important to remember that we cannot truly support other people unless we support ourselves first, and becoming grounded and accessing the universal energy are physical ways to do so. This keeps the energetic cycle flowing and our hearts open. Becoming a channel for universal love today will give you the strength and compassion to be fully present with others.

From The HeartMath Institute

Timely: As I am faced with situations in my life today I find that my mind can (and will) eagerly take a problem and run with it through every scenario until it finds one it can latch on to. It will play that scenario over and over again incessantly. For once, I specifically looked at the situation from my heart and man is it ever wise! Everything is good!

DailyOM - Double Rainbowsby Clarissa Pinkola Estes

Timely: Lately as I investigate more and more what his happening in the current affairs of our world I wondered what exactly little ‘ol me could do.

Ours is not the task of fixing the entire world all at once, but of stretching out to mend the part of the world that is within our reach. Any small, calm thing that one soul can do to help another soul, to assist some portion of this poor suffering world, will help immensely. It is not given to us to know which acts or by whom, will cause the critical mass to tip toward an enduring good. What is needed for dramatic change is an accumulation of acts, adding, adding to, adding more, continuing. We know that it does not take “everyone on Earth” to bring justice and peace, but only a small, determined group who will not give up during the first, second, or hundredth gale.

One of the most calming and powerful actions you can do to intervene in a stormy world is to stand up and show your soul. Soul on deck shines like gold in dark times. The light of the soul throws sparks, can send up flares, builds signal fires, causes proper matters to catch fire. To display the lantern of soul in shadowy times like these - to be fierce and to show mercy toward others, both, are acts of immense bravery and greatest necessity. Struggling souls catch light from other souls who are fully lit and willing to show it. If you would help to calm the tumult, this is one of the strongest things you can do.
